Spring 2025 Internship Position
Description: Waxman Literary Agency—a fast-paced and close-knit literary agency that has produced numerous bestsellers in both the fiction and nonfiction categories—is seeking an intern who is passionate about books and savvy at spotting literary promise. The intern’s primary responsibility will be working directly with the agents to evaluate author submissions and manuscripts. We’re looking for someone quick to make accurate assessments and comfortable reading across multiple genres including literary fiction, speculative fiction, and horror. The intern will have the chance to learn about the daily workings of the agency and the publishing industry, from the submission process to foreign rights and beyond. 2 days per week, stipend $40/day. This position is remote.
Length of internship: January through May, with some flexibility depending on the candidate.
Requirements: We’re looking for applicants who have finished at least three years of undergraduate study, with strong written and verbal skills, as well as an unflagging attention to detail. Passion for reading is a must. Administrative experience, submission-reading experience (such as for a literary magazine), and/or coursework in English or Creative Writing is a plus.
How to apply: Please submit both a cover letter and a resume to Sarah Inouye at sarah@waxmanagency.com with “Spring 2025 Internship” in the subject line. Any questions can also be sent to that address.
